STRAY NEW ZEALAND UPDATES

NZ SELECT TOURS

New Welcome Evening

New Welcome Evening and Extra Day: All Select tours that start in Auckland now begin on a Wednesday (one day earlier), with an arrival day and welcome evening added for the group. This gives everyone time to arrive and get to know each other before the adventure kicks off! As a result, the RURU is now 19 days, KERERU now 12 days and the PUKEKO is now 9 days.

Rotorua // Two Lakes

New Activity: We include an aqua taxi to Te Rata Bay, home to the stunning geothermal Hot Water Beach (note: not the one next to Hahei), where a hot thermal spring feeds into lake water. For those keen for a hike, take a quick soak before embarking on the 15km (4.5–5 hrs) Tarawera Trail, where you’ll enjoy incredible views over Lakes Rotomahana and Tarawera.

Te Anau

New Overnight and Activities: We stay in Te Anau for 2 nights and include the breathtaking short film Ata Whenua – Shadowland. In summer we include a water taxi to Brod Bay where we’re able to walk a part of the Kepler Track, one of NZ’s Great Walks (Oct–April). In winter we include entrance to the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, Aoraki Mt Cook (May–Sept).

NZ ADVENTURE TOURS

• Now with two night stays in both Hahei and Wellington so we can see and do more in each place! We’ve reworked the timings of the entire tour so the groups travel at a more comfortable pace.
• New Activity: Dark Sky Experience in Tekapo. Learn the secrets of the cosmos and get insights into the importance of Tātai Aroraki (Māori astronomy) with the latest virtual technology.
• The KEA tour is now 23 days instead of 24 as we express from Wellington to Auckland on the last travel day
