The lower part of South Island of New Zealand experienced heavy flooding in the Fiordland region and our Strademark Stop, Gunn's Camp was badly damaged due to flooding and landslides making it no longer possible for us to stay there. For the rest of the season (until 30 September 2020) we will be staying overnight in Te Anau instead.
The Far South departures scheduled will continue to run with a slightly altered schedule:
- Day 1: Queenstown (depart 6:40-7am) - Milford Sound for the opportunity to do a Milford Sound cruise - Te Anau (overnight at Te Anau Lakeview)
- Day 2: Te Anau (depart 11:30am from Te Anau Lakeview Holiday Park) - Invercargill/Stewart Island
- Day 3: Invercargill/Stewart Island - return to Queenstown.

We can return to River Retreat on 13th of March (Wednesday 11 March departure out of Sydney)!
We've been unable to visit since a firestorm went through our "Strademark" Stop River Retreat and the surrounding area in November 2019. This absolutely devastated the small tight-knit community, destroying 90 homes and leaving approximately 200 people homeless.
During this time of crisis, the accommodation was used as a temporary home for those who needed it and we stayed in the coastal town of Yamba instead.
We’ve now had the fantastic news that we will be able to return to River Retreat from the 13th of March! We are looking forward to going back to Nymboida to support this small community to get back on their feet.
