Ulva Island Bird Sanctuary

Stewart Island has one of the largest populations of kiwi in New Zealand and Ulva Island, just a 7min water taxi ride from Stewart Island, is a native bird sanctuary.

You have a good chance of spotting a kiwi on Ulva island, due to the unique environment free of predators, the kiwi here feed during the day as well as at night.
