Aotearoa New Zealand, land of the long white cloud. Home to the All Blacks, the iconic kiwi bird, pavlova, Middle Earth and some of the most diverse landscapes you'll ever see in one country! From the North Island to the South Island, you'll experience black sand beaches, glittering white dunes, snowy mountains, lush rainforests and green rolling farmland. Pair that with wild adventures, superb hikes, unrivalled stargazing, Māori culture, and friendly locals - and you've got a travel hot spot like no other.
Authentic New Zealand Travel
Stray are the experts in taking you off the beaten track and seeing the real New Zealand. We're all about seeking out secluded destinations and one-of-a-kind experiences. We're not a "party bus" tour or the "blink and you miss it" highlight tour - we value time spent in special locations learning from our incredible community.
Our New Zealand Tours use Private Coaches
Our buses are your basecamp for the journey and take you on your entire tour of New Zealand. We don't just stick you on public transport like some other tours.
This means our New Zealand small group tours get to see more, do more in both the North and South Island. You'll get to experience awesome activities, and spontaneous photo ops that the other tours will drive straight past! Plus, there's no worries - no losing stuff, no overnight busses, no awkward timetables, no packed or unreliable public transport. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy the ride with your new Stray mates.
Responsible Travel
At Stray we operate a sustainable travel network, prioritising responsible exploration. From protecting our natural environment to supporting animal welfare, we strive to leave a positive impact wherever we go.
Our commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism comes in many forms around the world. Stray stays at Kohutapu Lodge in Lake Aniwhenua and our hosts there are real visionaries who understand the positive impact tourism can have on a struggling community. We've teamed up to provide food parcels to the local school and Stray travellers spend time in the classroom with the children to help expand their thinking beyond the confines of Murupara. In Australia, we’re proud to be part of the Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef, a people-powered reef conservation initiative using technology and practical programs to protect and restore the world's reefs, including the Great Barrier Reef.
Join us and discover incredible destinations, all while being inspired to make the world a better place.
Supporting Local Communities
We believe we have a responsibility to make a positive impact on the communities we visit. Supporting local operators and hiring local guides means that you can learn more about the culture and get more out of your trip. We include an indigenous cultural experience to give authentic insights into modern day Māori culture and a connection to local communities for Stray travellers
Our passionate Stray team get involved in fundraising to support our communities - including local charities and Australian tourism destinations affected by bushfires in the past .
