Summer 2011/12 Changes
Stray Summer Changes 2011/12
Yeehaa summer is here and with it Stray has an awesome new route to make the most of the sun and NZ's amazing stops on and off the beaten track!
Stray is welcoming the return of our unique overnight stop at Hahei in the Coromandel, with beachfront accommodation next to stunning Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach, and options of sea kayaking, great walks and free natural hot pools in the sand!
The northbound route from Wellington to Auckland now has an overnight stop at Rotorua offering passengers heading up the North Island the chance to soak up some culture and enjoy the geothermal area while offering the chance to hop off in National Park for the Tongariro Crossing and Whakahoro, or in Taupo for skydiving.
With summer of course comes the return of the activity stop at Goat Island just north of Auckland where passengers can enjoy free snorkeling and a free ride in a glass bottom boat over the marine reserve on the way up to the Bay of Islands.
Stray's East Coast trip, Go East has started again, opening up the beautiful and cultural east coast, hosted by locals with down-to-earth activities and the chance to sample some awesome local kaimoana (seafood).
The southern part of the South Island has a new route with the return of the Burt pass - a 3 day Queenstown to Queenstown trip including two Stray unique overnight stops - Stewart Island for walks and wildlife and Gunn's Camp to step back in time and access to Fiordland National Park!
The Stray route of course still has unique overnight stops off the beaten track, such as Whakahoro, an eco-wilderness station; Rangitata, an activity playground amongst Lord of the Rings scenery; Mt Cook, with accommodation at the base of NZ's highest mountain; Raglan, surf and arts town; and Maketu, a Maori cultural overnight where passengers can learn the haka!
With all this awesome new content, it is only right that we honour it all with a new look brochure with an awesome, easy-to-read layout that really illustrates how we do more in a day and get further off the beaten track. Check it out now!
Stray has recently been awarded the silver Qualmark Enviro silver award, plus was the winner of the Golden Backpack Awards and the Tourism Industry Award for best transport operator in 2010.
Please refer to the Spring timetable for all departure and arrival times from Nov 1st.
