Ruakuri Caves and Bush Scenic Reserve track loops through classic limestone outcrops, native bush and alongside the Waitomo stream.
The highlight of the walk is the Ruakuri Natural Tunnel, a spectacular high-ceiling cave with the Waitomo Stream flowing into it. You can explore the stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave and spot glow worms along the banks of the track at night.
It is a place of strong spiritual and cultural significance to Maori.
