The Stewart Island Project
YHA New Zealand has started 'The Stewart Island Project'. They are building a 54 bed hostel and learning centre on Stewart Island as a legacy for Kiwis and travellers to New Zealand.
The hostel and learning centre is going to be built as a sustainable facility and to blend in with Stewart Island's pristine environment.
The centre will give school children the opportunity to study and explore the island's amazing national park (that covers 95% of the island) and the incredible bird-life sanctury on Ulva Island.
Stewart Island is a remote, untouched place that only Stray gives you the opportunity to visit and stay overnight on as part of its normal itinerary. For any Stray passes sold at a YHA, we are giving 5% of the revenue to the Stewart Island Project to help it succeed and provide this priceless educational and environmental facility for travellers and NZ children alike.
